    D'Backs A True "Fire" Sale

The Diamondbacks fired 31 front-office employees Friday, amounting to a nine-percent reduction in the team's staff.
Arizona is obviously having some money problems, and this talk that they don't have more than $3 million-$5 million budgeted to re-sign Randy Johnson just might be true. They'll also probably have to go cheap at second base.
Good *******!! 9% might not sound like a lot but it really is a big layoff. The Dbacks have six free agents most likely leaving so Byrnes has a lot of work to do and seems to have less people do it for him. Should make for an interesting offseason for a team a year removed from winning the NL West.

If they cared about their employees at all, they would have used that 3-to-5 million bucks on their jobs instead of on Randy Johnson's next new house.
