DBacks Make Offer to Japanese Starter

According to the Arizona Republic, the Diamondbacks' offer to Hiroki Kuroda is for $27 million over three years.
The newspaper suggests that the Mariners remain the favorites to land the Japanese right-hander and the Los Angeles Times reports that the Dodgers sent a three-man group including closer Takashi Saito to Japan to speak with him.
Scouts view him as a good #3 starter and some argued who was the better pitcher between him and Dice K. Former Japanese pitcher Shigetoshi Hasegawa works for Octagon, the U.S. agency representing Kuroda. Hasegawa enjoyed a strong relationship with D-backs manager Bob Melvin and pitching coach Bryan Price when the three were together with the Mariners in 2003 and '04 so this can help their chances.

The Diamondbacks can have him. I wouldn't want another Kaz Ishii.
