Kim had a solid 4.16 ERA for Florida before being claimed off waivers, but he's been a disaster in two starts for Arizona. The Diamondbacks could go back to Yusmeiro Petit.

Diamondbacks designated RHP Byung-Hyun Kim for assignment.
Kim would have had more than two starts to prove himself if he showed anything at all. However, he recorded just eight outs between the two games. The Diamondbacks will likely go back to Yusmeiro Petit, who hardly deserved to be demoted in the first place.

Diamondbacks recalled outfielder Jeff Salazar from Triple-A Tucson.
Salazar did solid work as a starter during his stint with the Diamondbacks this month, but he's returning now as a backup to Justin Upton. He's probably not going to be of a lot of use in NL-only leagues.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Jailen Peguero from Triple-A Tucson.
Peguero gave up six runs in 7 2/3 innings in the majors back in June. If his command is better this time, he could be effective in the middle innings.

Diamondbacks recalled RHP Dustin Nippert from Triple-A Tucson.
Nippert and Jailen Peguero will rejoin Arizona's bullpen for now, but odds are that one will be shipped out when a fifth starter is needed this weekend. Nippert has a 5.57 ERA in 32 1/3 innings in the majors this season.

Diamondbacks designated LHP Joe Kennedy for assignment.
We thought Kennedy made the most sense of the Diamondbacks' three waiver wire pickups, but the team is already dropping him after he gave up six runs in relief last night. Maybe he'll make it through waivers this time, but there should be plenty of interest in him if he becomes a free agent.

Diamondbacks placed third baseman Chad Tracy on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 13, with a sore right knee.
Only a month after it should have happened. Tracy has been quite a liability while batting the sore knee. He had started only three games this month, and he was 6-for-31 since missing his first game back on July 15. Mark Reynolds will play third base for the next couple of weeks.

Eric Byrnes was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI Wednesday to help Arizona rebound from Tuesday's shellacking.
After getting hammered by Florida Tuesday, the NL West leaders bounced back with 15 hits to win their 18th game in 23 tries. Byrnes doubled twice and stole a base. He's batting .301 with 76 runs, 69 RBI and 24 doubles in 120 games.

Chris Snyder's two-run homer helped Arizona down Florida 9-6 on Wednesday.
Snyder's 11th homer of the year put the D-Backs up 5-1 in the sixth. It was his only hit of the night and he struck out three times and stranded four runners. In 79 games, he's struck out 49 times and is hitting .256.

Dan Haren fanned 10 while limiting the Angels to one run and two hits over seven innings in a win Friday.

Mark Reynolds went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer and a walk Friday versus the Angels.

After reviewing the results of an ultrasound, Diamondbacks trainers have concluded that Stephen Drew's abdominal strain is not serious.

Upton gets at-bats in Minors games | MLB.com: News
For the second consecutive day, Justin Upton went to the D-backs' Minor League complex on Saturday to get extra at-bats.

Upton has struggled at the plate this spring, hitting .190 in 42 at-bats, and D-backs manager Bob Melvin thought a couple of days without the pressure of playing in a regular game would help Upton work out the kinks.
Smart job by the manager, lets him play in the minors to relax.

6 year, $51 million contract for Justin Upton today; easily beating his brother who lost his arbitration and ended up with 1 year, $3 million. Ownage?

Haren served up 3 straight homers in the 7th inning at Coors, giving him a total of 16 jacks for the season. Of course, his HR tally could have been far more damaging if he didn't have excellent control.
