Official: D-Backs, Yanks talking Unit trade

In need of starting pitching -- and a marquee name that will draw more fans -- the Diamondbacks have offered a package of at least three players, including a major-leaguer. They would also want a 72-hour window to negotiate an extension with Johnson, who is owed $16 million in the final year of his contract. The Yankees, according to the official, don't want to pick up any of Johnson's salary.

Looks like the rumors about Johnson wanting to move closer to his Arizona home have some truth to them. The Padres are also said to be interested and are potentially dangling Linebrink as a centerpiece to a potential deal.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

The Dodgers and Angels are also said to be in the mix with the Padres believed to have the best chance of landing RJ if in fact the Yankees decide to move him.

I do not want him that bad if he is going to cost us an arm and a leg.
