Re: 2015 Carolina Panthers Team Page

    Draft Picks:

2.33 - Shaq Thompson, S/OLB, Washington - Meet Thomas Davis Part II. He will start as our 3rd LB, and rotate between there and SS as we figure out what combination of safeties works best for us (ideally starting Boston and McDonald, but Delmas is good and Thompson could start there too). Another explosive defender with pass coverage skills added to our D.
3.89 - Kwon Alexander, LB, LSU - Another rangy and explosive linebacker who can provide some talented depth to what was a shockingly thin position outside of our two superstars. We're also hoping he can be a terror on special teams and help clean up the mess that was last season.
3rd round Comp Pick - Corey Robinson, OT, South Carolina - A huge tackle who can be a good man-on-man run blocker and will challenge with Chris Clark for the starting right tackle role. At the very least he is versatile and can backup most of the positions along the line.
4.97 - Nick O'Leary, TE, Florida State - A decent athlete with skills as a blocker in the passing and running game. He also is a smart route runner. Hopefully he can team up with Greg Olsen to help out our tackles with their blocking assignments and occasionally catch some passes.
4.116 - Karlos Williams, RB, Florida State - Great athlete with all the tools you look for in a future star at runningback. Still new to the position and will have plenty of time to develop and learn behind our stable of great runners.
6.185 - Darius Davis, WR, Henderson State - We think he can develop into a powerful receiver to make tough catches and run routes well. It'll take some time.

Re: 2015 Carolina Panthers Team Page

    Trades:

    Buffalo Trades:
    CB Corey Graham $4,300,000 ($3,000,000)

    Carolina Trades:
    S Colin Jones $870,000 ($200,000)

Carolina welcomes the addition of an underrated veteran nickelback to its secondary which will help stabilize the defensive backfield while starters Josh Norman and Bene Benwikere grow and develop.

    Tennesse Trades:
    OT Terren Jones $585,000 ($0)

    Carolina Trades:
    FB/RB Mike Tolbert $3,425,000 ($1,000,000)

Carolina wishes Mike the best of luck in Tennessee. Unfortunately, his price was too high for his services as we hope to focus our rushing attack around Stewart and Cam this coming season.

    Buffalo Trades:
    Draft pick 2.48
    WR Robert Woods $1,327,301

    Carolina Trades:
    Draft pick 1.25
    Draft pick 4.121

While Kelvin Benjamin dazzled people with his spectacular, tough catches, Carolina looks forward to adding a young route technician opposite him to succeed in areas such as not dropping easy catches and not randomly stopping mid-route leading to Cam Newton throwing an interception.

    Vikings Trade:
    WR Cordarelle Patterson $1,969,376 ($2,877,294)
    43DE Brian Robison $5,450,000 ($3,000,000)
    CB Josh Robinson $950,250 ($174,250)

    Panthers Trade:
    43DE Charles Johnson $20,020,000 ($14,040,000)
    LG Andrew Norwell $510,000 ($0)
    CB Josh Norman $709,750 ($49,750)

The Panthers bid farewell to one of the cornerstones of our defense and hope Charles Johnson continues to play at a high level in Minnesota with what should be one of the NFL's best defenses. An exchange of Joshes at cornerback sends out one talented but inconsistent corner for another talented inconsistent corner. The Panthers hope Amini Silatolu will come back healthy for the season to take back his spot in the starting lineup to form a great duo with Trai Turner and soften the blow of losing Norwell. But most of all, Carolina looks forward to Cordarelle Patterson's runningback mentality to help bolster an already potent running game, be a deadly option threat, and the dangerous athletic downfield presence Carolina has lacked for many years. If we can get Cam Newton some protection, he will have plenty of weapons to work with.

    Panthers Trade:
    5.153
    7.217

    Rams Trade:
    S TJ McDonald $786,426 ($324,000)

The Panthers have now revamped their secondary from a relative weakness at the start of last season to a strength next season (which will be needed with the loss of star pass rushers Greg Hardy and Charles Johnson). TJ McDonald came on strong last season flying to the ball, and we hope he forms a dynamic young duo with Tre Boston to give Carolina its best safety tandem since Mike Minter and Deon Grant during the 2003 Super Bowl run. We have high hopes for our young, talented secondary next season.

    Panthers trade:
    2.47
    2.57

    Eagles trade:
    2.33
    4.97
    4.116

Panthers moved up in the draft to pick Shaq Thompson.

Re: 2015 Carolina Panthers Team Page

    Free Agent Signings:

Chris Clark OT $510,000 - Young backup tackle hoping to help fill a team void
Chris Williams OG $510,000 - Young lineman bolstering team depth
Chris Johnson RB $510,000 - Decent 3rd down back with some speed to give Stewart a breather and make plays in the screen/passing game
Jacoby Ford WR $510,000 - Athletic wideout who will add some speed to the return game
Michael Bowie OT $800,000 - Young lineman with some starter's reps and potential
Orson Charles TE/FB $510,000 - Athletic, young receiver who can help diversify the base package and hopefully be groomed as a successor to Greg Olsen
Marvin Austin DT $510,000 - Young formerly high draft pick who will be good depth and maybe a decent player if he can stay healthy.
Trent Cole DE $5,000,000 - Exactly the type of speed rusher we have lacked since Julius Peppers abandoned us for the Bears. He'll be expected to play mostly on passing downs as a pure pass-rushing threat.
Jake Long LT $5,000,000 - After last year's nightmare OT situation, we are taking steps to ensure we have some fresh young blood, but having a veteran like Long could be huge for us. He may not play, or be a shell of himself, due to injury, but the upside is high and we think he'll be a great addition to our team if healthy. The other OTs on the market have issues as well (either age, injury, poor play, etc) so we think we got a steal.
Brandon Graham DE $7,500,000 - For less than Charles Johnson's total cap hit this year we have been able to re-stock our DE position with a veteran speed rusher (Trent Cole) a decent all-around veteran (Brian Robison), and a young edge rusher with lots of upside (Graham). Graham will start (most likely at RE opposite Kony Ealy) and hopefully they will form the next dynamic pass-rushing duo for Carolina.
Jerome Felton FB $510,000 - Gives us a true blocking fullback for when we go to a full-house or I-formation.
Tony Moeaki TE $510,000 - A former rising young TE set back by injuries. We hope he can regain his form as a star pass-catcher.
Darryl Tapp DE $510,000 - Underrated 4-3DE who can set the edge and rush the passer. He'll be used strictly as a backup.
Tyson Alualu DT $510,000 - Will be used alongside Kawaan Short as a pass-rusher from the interior in our nickel formations.
Tony Carter CB $510,000 - We need depth at corner and he showed some promise with the Broncos. No high expectations.
Louis Delmas FS $510,000 - A playmaking safety whose only concern is injuries. We think he can provide major snaps for us behind Boston and McDonald.
Joe McKnight - Multidimensional weapon out of the backfield with good athleticism and can contribute as a return man on special teams.
Walter Thurmond - Good physical corner who can play the boundary and start if needed. Will be a backup unless Benwikere/Graham/Robinson get injured. Provides a great foursome at corner.

    ERFA Signings:

LB Ben Jacobs - Last year's leading special teams tackler and adds depth to LB core.
RB Fozzy Whittaker - Sparkplug third-down back showing enough athleticism to earn increased carries.
C Brian Folkerts - Depth at center behind Kalil.

    Team Free Agents:

DT Colin Cole - Depth and can start in a pinch
DT Dwan Edwards - Depth with starter potential
QB Joe Webb - Depth and special teams player
TE Ed Dickson - Starter potential, just needs to become a consistent pass-catcher

Re: 2015 Carolina Panthers Team Page

Cam + Patterson + Stewart/Williams/Johnson will be a fantastic option running threat. That's exactly why a lot of Vikings fans wanted to draft Manziel, and while you don't have AP, I think Cam is a way better runner than Manziel. That will be a dangerous, possession, clock-eating offense.
