    '15 GML Free Agency Rules

    UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENCY PROCESS:

This differs from the Tagged and Tendered bidding process. For info on that, please see the according thread.

The Cut Player/Street Free Agent process uses the same rules listed here EXCEPT there is no nomination period for that process.

REMINDER: For unrestricted free agency you may use the Exclusive Rights Franchise Tag OR the Non-Exclusive Rights Franchise Tag OR the Transition Tag before and only before the process starts. For more information please read the Tagged & Tendered thread.

Free Agency will begin TBD. To acquire free agents, we will use a nomination and bid format here on the forums. There are unlimited bids.

Every team will nominate ONE TOTAL Free Agent from ANY of the positional threads to be bid on. A bidding period will then occur for about a week. After that a new nomination period will begin where every team will once again nominate ONE Free Agent. DO NOT nominate a player already nominated.

    EXAMPLE:
(Posted in the Free Agent Nominations thread) Team A nominates QB Player A for bidding.

(Posted in the Free Agent Nominations thread) Team B nominates RB Player B for bidding.

After the nomination and bidding process ends, you can bid on whomever you want in the positional threads.

    DETAILS:

    WINNING/SIGNING A FREE AGENT:
All the bids will be able to be seen as it stands and the highest bid that goes 24 hours without being matched wins.

    MINIMUM BID/SALARY RULES
Minimum bid is $510,000 for any player that is not an UDFA rookie, including all veterans. The minimum bid is $435,000 for UDFA rookies. There is no maximum bid. There are no minimum salary benefits, no tiering, no split contracts, as it'd involve too many complications. You can retract minimum bids ONLY.

    BID INCREASES
The minimum increase in bids on a player are as followed:
For players with bids under $1,000,000: $50,000 increase is required.
For players with bids between $1,000,000 & $4,999,999: $100,000 increase is required.
For players with bids between $5,000,000 & $9,999,999: $250,000 increase is required.
For players with bids over $10,000,000: $500,000 increase is required.

    FREE AGENCY AND THE CAP:
Teams cannot go over the salary cap with their bids (not including draft pick salaries). Do not bid more money than you have. Make sure you have enough space for your free agents when bidding. If we catch anyone doing this, all bids will be forfeited. If you need more room to make a bid, you must cut a player before placing that bid.

NOTE: Also keep in mind how much your draft pick salaries are because you'll need room to sign them if you do. You do not have to have the required space before the picks are made, but you must have the space when you go to sign them. You can find those numbers in the Draft Rules thread.

    CUTTING SIGNED FREE AGENTS:
You can cut a player you signed in free agency but will absorb the entire value of his contract as dead money (unless they're minimum contracts). You CANNOT use a June 1st exception on them.

    TRADING SIGNED FREE AGENTS
You cannot trade players you sign in free agency. You may trade your franchised/transitioned players' rights or tendered RFA rights. You can cut players signed to contracts but must absorb all of it as dead money. You may not cut them as June 1sts.

COMPENSATORY PICKS FOR FREE AGENTS LOST:
The 32 highest paid UFAs heading to a new team will net their former team a comp pick. These will be decided and awarded before the draft.

Please do not welcome players to your team in the player's position thread. It only makes a mess and there will be an area for you to welcome your players.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
