I guess it also helps that at the time I didn't give two shits about the whole backstage element of wrestling and whether or not the proper talent was being given the proper pushes and what-not. That allowed me to only focus on the storyline and angle on my television screen.

In a way getting more in tuned with the backstage aspect of everything has killed my ability to enjoy the product. Now, instead of deciding who I like better in each feud I find myself focusing on why they're not giving Bryan Danielson a proper push or getting Aaron Haddad the push he deserves and crap like that.

Its why Cena pisses me off so much. I truly believe that Dolph and Sandow would be freaking mega stars if they came around in a competitive era and its like they don't even try. WWE rather go with the tired old guys that they get their jollies off on.

I hope Double J surprises the hell out of me and actually tries to make GFW a promotion about something other than himself because I see talent out there that could really do some wonders in a new place or actually given a chance with the right creative.

Man that invasion angle could have been something special. I still liked it at the time, though.

and ddp as the stalker ahead of time? good lord how awful.

You can't pretend to be a total mark and still know that Austin got fired by fax, though.

Three things they did killed WCW as a name:
    1. Putting the Buff/Booker match in Washington, when they had Atlanta Raw the next week.
    2. Rushing through the ECW/WCW alliance. That was 6 weeks of television that they threw into one episode.
    3. Undertaker and the APA squashing every WCW guy they came in contact with.

That's a pretty solid starting point right there.

Things they did right during the Invasion:
    1. Austin v. Angle/Rock v. Jericho, Summer of '01/Fall of '01(Both great feud that need to be relived through the Network.)
    2. Torrie, Stacy, Rob Van Dam and The Hurricane came out better than they were before.
    3. Stephanie's ECW wardrobe.

I can't think of anything else, personally.

a total mark that watched a lot of ecw?

"Three things they did killed WCW as a name:

thats kinda 2 pronged. the second part... you put buff bagwell in your showcase match? and you expected some type of workrate?

"2. Torrie, Stacy, Rob Van Dam and The Hurricane came out better than they were before."

2 of the hottest women ever and a comedy act were the names you got over with what shouldve been the greatest storyline in wrestling history. go vince's ego!

See, I didn't know about this at the time because, as I stated later on, I didn't pay any attention to behind the scenes stuff.

To me, at least at the time, caring about a storyline being that way because in reality WCW fired him via fax would be like hating a plot twist in the Avengers movie because Robert Downy Jr had a spat with Disney.

    Re: Official WWE Thread

yea but its not like stone cold hating wcw for that, and other things, was only a behind the scenes in the know type of thing. it basically started the entire stone cold persona in ecw. now, if you didnt watch ecw during his days there... then yea, i guess that would be a minor thing for you. but if you did... he pissed on wcw every chance he got, him turning on wwf, the company that made him the star he was... for anything closely resembling wcw [even though it really wasnt with shane mcmahon in charge], was downright pitiful.

still, that was only the tip of the iceberg for me. if everything else had been booked fairly well, i probably couldve overlooked that. but on top of everything else, that was very irksome. booking 101... austin was established [amazingly] in wwf, him going to join the other team was useless. wcw/ecw shouldve been built around booker, ddp and rvd [especially if you werent gonna bring in the nwo, flair, goldberg, sting], and if you absolutely needed someone to turn to build up wcws side [which they did, because they were absolutely destroyed constantly], then an up and comer like jericho, a guy with roots to wcw, wouldve been a much better choice. if wcw had been booked to look quasi equal though... with storm, awesome, rhino and the dudleys, you probably wouldnt have even needed a turn though.
