    Nationals Nats Sign Oliver Perez

Nationals signed LHP Oliver Perez to a minor league contract.
Well, that was fast. It's just a minor league deal, so it's hard to blame them, but fixing Perez is no small task. The 29-year-old left-hander has always struggled with his command, so he won't have any chance of success unless he can find his velocity again.
Why the hell not? I wouldn't have minded the Giants picking him up and sticking him in AAA. Not like its going to hurt anything.

For Perez, not a bad choice of a team to go to. I have to wonder if he wanted to go to an NL East team though so he could face the Mets. I don't have any reason to speculate that he did for sure, just thinking about why.

You would think the Cardinals might have had interest, ie try fixing him in AAA some of the way, and maybe later with Duncan as Perez is obviously a project kind of pitcher right now.

I wouldn't mind if my team signed to a minor league contract..

..even though he was a complete failure for the Mets.

Because a minor league contract will surely fix everything!

Fuck yeah! We should get this guy!!!111oneone

Its not that a minor league deal will fix anything, its that it won't hurt anything. Yes he was a complete failure with the Mets but he's only 29 and can still possibly turn it around or at worst turn into a lefty specialist. Why not take a shot? Dontrelle Willis is still getting work, why not Perez?
