Private Contract Negotiations:

This is a discussion on Private Contract Negotiations: within the Triple Play Sim League forum; I was wondering if the majority would be ok if we tried this next season. It is an idea I ...

Thought of something, bear with me here, the power just went out.

Is there any way to make it so that when I make a thread in the contract extensions sub form, that only people that could see it would be myself, and Nick?

I know it's know with the "admin notification" sub-form, but is there another way to work it out for this situation?

Re: Private Contract Negotiations:

There's a forum with a setup like that on here, I believe it's the one where members can apply to be team leaders, have complaints, suggestions, etc and only admins can see the posts and threads. It's plausible, it just depends on how much work it would take for Mr. Mission

Re: Private Contract Negotiations:

Shit, really? That'd be really cool and a perfect compromise for those who don't want to have to check PMs.

I'll run it by mission sometime today and see if it's not a big hassle to do something like that in the offseason (or whenenver he had the time, really). I dunno what the coding on a board like this is like obviously-- I've only managed proboards and that was a long time ago. I know on those boards it was basically a swapping process within a control panel to replace admins, mods, boards, etc... I really don't know how it is for S3F, though... if it's a pain in the ass then it probably wouldn't be worth it. But definitely an intriguing idea.

I'd pose the question to Mission.

The dynamics of the Admin Notification Forum might not be a guarantee it can be done here, considering that goes to admin and this would be set up for a specific user.

As for the topic at hand, as stated in the other thread, if you press me for my preference I prefer public, but I'm cool with whatever you want to go with.

I just would like some of the info to be public if the guy signs like, demands, initial offer, final price

Re: Private Contract Negotiations:

CJ-- If the player signs, I see no issues with re-posting that info. I was probably going to keep a transactions thread going to keep track of that stuff should we do this.

Leo-- I thought about that too, honestly. I dunno really, on other boards I've been on you can customize, for example, each mods' individual capabilities. I'm unsure if these boards work like that and even if they do, how much of a hassle it would be to set up my account to work with a board like that. Honestly, if it's a hassle for Mission or any of the other admins, it's not worth it to me.

I'll run it by Mission later today regardless and see what he says.

Re: Private Contract Negotiations:

The argument made in the other thread was that negotiations are private in real life and they were meant to be private when the game was designed, therefore they should be private in sim leagues.

Re: Private Contract Negotiations:

I'm fine with that, but it doesn't seem like something to sweat too much. Other GMs can't interfere with negotiations anyway, and extensions become public once made regardless.
