Could Sheets Be A Ranger?

Rangers president Nolan Ryan said Tuesday that he believes Ben Sheets has "legitimate interest" in joining their club.
Sheets makes his offseason home in Dallas and has family in Louisiana. He has asked Ryan about the Rangers' roster, their ballpark, and pitching in the heat. "There's a lot of things we like about him," said Ryan. "We like his competitiveness, we like his relationship with [pitching coach] Mike Maddux." The club would likely have to dump some salary, however, before making a serious play.

Sounds like Texas would be an ideal team for Sheets. He lives there and knows Mike Maddux. Its good to see the Rangers focusing on pitching for a change. Texas has been shopping Hank Blalock and even Micheal Young this offseason so that might be the salary dump they are talking about. I say go for it Nolan but only on a two year deal. Mayb a three year deal to beat the Yankees offer.

They would be taking a risk but it sounds like it would be a good fit for the Rangers. And I agree Reefer, it's nice to see the Rangers focusing on pitching for once.
