    Short-armed Red Sox @ Long-armed Rays 9/9-9/11

    Probables

    Lackey VS Davis
    Weiland VS Hellickson
    Lester VS Shields

The Red Sox lost 3 of 4 from the Jays and the two previous series against the Rangers and Yankees.

The Rays were roughed up in Arlington but came home and took the first two series of the current home stand.

The Red Sox are now chasing the Yankees but looking over their shoulders to keep an eye on the Rays. The Rays are holding on trying to scrape their way back into at least a WC spot.

Not only have the Sawx lost Buchholz, but Beckett sprained his ankle earlier in the week and will miss this series. Erik Bedard has a mid lat strain, but may return to the team today but Kevin Youkilis was left in Boston to get the hip that has been bothering him off an on examined. They recalled RHP Scott Atchison from Pawtucket.
