    Re: Short-armed Red Sox @ Long-armed Rays 9/9-9/11

    Tonight’s match-ups

Kyle Weiland is making just his 3rd start of the season, the first since July and was roughed up in both which were against the Orioles.

Jeremy Hellickson pitched a CG last Sunday against the Orioles allowing just one run on 4 hits in just 97 pitches.

The Sox are banged up enough and that deflection off Lackey’s calf last night was worse than it looked, now he is day to day.

Rays were hoping to have Lobaton ready for tonight, but he is not on the projected line up.

Now that the Durham Bulls have been eliminated from the IL play-offs, the Rays plan to call up Russ Canzler and Dane De La Rosa and a pitcher may be on the way due to the DH in NY on Wed. While no decision has been made on who, it could be either Alex Torres or Matt Moore according to quotes from Maddon. The Rays will have to make room on the current 40-man roster.

    Line-ups

    Red Sox

    Ellsbury CF
    Pedroia 2B
    Gonzalez 1B
    Ortiz DH
    Reddick RF
    Crawford LF
    Lowrie 3B
    Scuturo SS
    Saltalamacchia C

    Rays

    Jennings LF
    Upton CF
    Longoria 3B
    Zobrist 2B
    Damon DH
    Joyce RF
    Kotchman 1B
    Jaso C
    Rodriguez SS
