Re: The game to watch

Just watched Carpenter leave the game in the top of the 4th. He was holding the left side of his ribs. Must be some sort of oblique injury or whatever. So it starts...

Hopefully that's all it is. Not that any injury is good, but I just hope it isn't an arm injury.

Carpenter did in fact leave with a rib cage injury which is not good because these kinds of injuries can linger for a while. But just thank whoever it wasn't an arm injury. Tough break for the Cards. Scherzer looked OK but nothing special. The Cards blew yet another save and lost in extras.

With Carpenter likely to be place on the DL soon, Chris Perez may be brought up. As devastating as losing Carpenter is, getting our closer back (Perez), might be a silver lining.

Perez isn't the closer so I can't see a silver lining.

Mitchell Boggs has also been called up and Brad Thompson sent down.

Perez is the closer in Memphis, and should be the closer in St. Louis. He could be called up soon.

Correction, he has already been called up. Now that Perez has been called up, he will probably be our closer.

Perez should be doing exactly what Motte is doing now, middle relief. Franklin is closing now but when he struggles, who knows? That's why getting a real closer is so beneficial to the team. Relievers know their roles. Right now, no one knows what is going on.

Re: The game to watch

He did alright for a rookie. The more experience he gets, the better he will become. We needed a Starting Pitcher more than a closer. I'd rather have a rookie closer than a rookie starting pitcher like Walters. Nothing against Walters, I just don't know if he is ready yet. Especially to e thrown out there against the Cubs. Perez at least has over 40 games of ML experience.
