According to Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Mariners have agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with Jack Cust.
Worth a shot. Cust's power has been in decline for each of the past three seasons, but he's an interesting piece for a team that was last in the majors in runs scored, home runs, on-base percentage and OPS this past season.
Cust is making less than he did last year. I'm shocked!! Cust will be battling Mark Reynolds for the AL strikeout king but should add some pop and does draw a lot of walks too. Only problem is that either Milton Bradley or Cust will be playing the field while the other one DH's. That's never good.
