Padres ink Kotsay

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Padres have reached a one-year, $1.25 million deal with Mark Kotsay.
The contract will be finalized once Kotsay passes a physical. The 35-year-old veteran outfielder batted .270/.329/.373 in 255 plate appearances this past year for the Brewers. He'll be a backup in San Diego.

Not a bad backup to have. The Padres are also shopping Hudson and Bartlett.

For that matter I'd rather they had the job to Forsythe on a sink or swim basis than play the Hudson we currently have.....Belnome/Forsythe and at least you'll see max efforts which hopefully wont suck.....

Belnome's bat hasn't been stopped yet, but you'll give a little on range and D.......this guy can flat rake

Hudson moving to Petco wont help ? He's not a HR hitter, he's a line drive/gap hitter and being in Petco should be a great fit.....I wanted him here a long time ago and love that he's here for the next two.....HUGE upgrade over Eck on both sides of the ball

Nick Hundley is 0-fer on the season and has a better OBP than Hudson who isn't 0-fer.....If you can't hit you better field, if you can't field you better mash......if you can't do either you better go play for the Padres.....ugh
