Terrmel Sledge hit 15 HRs in 2004 in only 7 less at bats it took Rowand to hit 12 last year.

I guess Sledge has 20 HR power as well.

Of course I didn't since you misquote me. So what? He hit 24 in a pretty homer-friendly park in Chicago. He can hit the ball out. And he could have easily hit more than 17 last year. Hitting more than five homeruns in fifty games is not a hard thing to do especially for a linedrive hitter. Did you skip my post where it said some of those homers would be doubles in Petco? Probably did. Rowand's 162 game average is 16 homers with a .279 average with only one year with over 500 ABs. Any questions?

Did you skip over the request to ask Ryan Klesko and Phil Nevin about what happens to would be HRs at PetCo?

I realize they're the Washington Nationals now, but the Expos were a major league team in 2004.

And I fail to see how hitting a projected 17 HRs at the easiest HR ballpark east of Denver makes Rowand a hitter with "20 HR power"

No, he only has power in AAA. If Sledge had 20 homer power, he would have more of a career. And no I didn't skip over you the Klesko and Nevin thing but chose to ignore as they tried to hit homeruns every at bat. Rowand is a linedrive hitter, Klesko swung from his shoes and had warning track power. Rowand hit 20 homeruns before hitting at Philly and when he did play for Philly he hit 6 away and 6 at home. This isn't even a debate that he has the power to hit 20or that he is better than Sledge and Cruz!!!

    - You think line drives will turn into HRs at PetCo?

    - There's a plethera of players who've hit >20 HRs one season but nothing much otherwise. (hence the reference to Brady Anderson)

    - I never said Sledge, nor Cruz Jr were better than Rowand. In fact, I think I said the exact opposite at the start of this debate.

    - But, for what it's worth, Cruz Jr has topped 20 HRs 5 times in his career, 30 twice, and is only 3 years older than Rowand.

    - uuggghhhh Like I said Rowand's homers will turn into doubles at Petco but its 100% feasible that linedrives will be homers.

    - comparing a guy who has three whole seasons to Brady?

    - I know

    - Cruz is no Rowand. Rowand has a starting job, Cruz doesn't.

I can't believe you are still arguing this. LOL his 162 game average is 16 homeruns and that's with 3 good sized seasons under his belt.

    - Conceded. Rowand does have a decent career average.

    - Simply pointing out BA as an example of a person having one great HR year amidst mediocrity to point out that it's dumb to say someone has that type of HR power because they've done it once. Furthermore, Rowand's played 6 seasons now...not the 3 you keep saying. He turns 30 in the middle of the season.

    - If you knew why did you feel the need to say this? "This isn't even a debate...that he is better than Sledge and Cruz!!!"

    - Just pointing out what it says on the stat sheet.

Last post on this simple point

    - No shit
    - He has played in six seaons but only 3 with more than 120 games. Not exactly full seasons which I have been saying all along. and never did I simply point out a BA to prove anything about power. Where are you getting this shit?
    - you left out the words that belong in "....." which was the point going on the main point of this whole thing
    - Stat sheets says he does have 20 homer power

    - BA = Brady Anderson. Last time I try to use initials, I suppose.

    - I left that part out because i've been debating it non stop and your questioning of it wasn't in question at that portion of the debate. You pointed out that "it's not a debate that Rowand is better than Cruz or Sledge" to which I never disagreed, and it was that in which I was asking why you were even bothering to say. Why would I question why you would say "it's no debate he has 20 HR power!" when that's what we've been debating?

    - Using that logic stat sheets say Phil Nevin has 40 HR power.

Nevin has more of a career to go on and has declined like no other. Roids maybe? And yeah, the BA was confusing.

But, do you think Nevin would hit 40 HRs if he signed with someone today?

No, but I think he could hit 30 if he got fulltime play as in DH. Nevin's career average is 28 HRs and I think he could get that givien the right opportunity. He hit 22 amazingly last year. I didn't even know that til I just looked it up! Hard to keep up I guess when you play for three teams in a year.
