Brad Lidge (shoulder) is expected to be sidelined for 3-6 weeks.
Lidge has been diagnosed with a posterior rotator cuff strain. Even the most optimistic projections won't have him back with the Phillies until sometime in mid-May, if that. The Phillies are going to have to stay afloat with Jose Contreras in the ninth inning.
Phillie fans cannot be happy with the way things have gone thus far. Everyone wants to talk about the rotation but this team has real problems. Lidge going down for this long is one of them and there is no telling what he will be when he comes back. Utley is optimistic about returning before the AS break, Polanco has elbow problems, Werth's bat is no longer there, Howard should continue to decline and the bench isn't that strong. Their rotation is as strong as anyone's but the have some major problems.
