    Phillies Brown goes down

Domonic Brown will have surgery Tuesday to repair the fractured hamate bone in his right hand.
As expected. Brown will likely miss somewhere around 4-6 weeks, which puts Opening Day out of reach, but he could be back sometime in late-April. Of course, the Phillies will likely try to give him some extra at-bats on the Triple-A level first. We still like Brown quite a lot, but his power could suffer after surgery, at least in the short term.
Tough break for the Phillies as Brown is supposed to be the next big thing for them and this hurts his development at the big league level. Ben Francisco was likely to get the majority of the playing time early on and now it looks like he will be the full-time RFer to start the season. With Brown down and Utley hurting, the Phillies aren't as strong as people think.

Fuck Philly. Had they kept Cliff Lee during Werth's contract year, we'd be talking about the Phillies as the reigning champions.
