    Mets Young could be done

Chris Young was diagnosed with a re-tear of the anterior capsule in his right shoulder. The Mets will not owe Young more than his $1.1 million base salary if he does not make another start this season.
Young signed a one-year contract with the Mets over the winter for a base salary of $1.1 million. His bonuses don't kick in until his 10th start and 70th inning pitched while he has only made four starts and thrown 24 innings so far this season. The Mets are currently awaiting a second opinion on Young's historically troubled right shoulder.
Bad news for Young and the Mets as Young was pitching well this season. He had only given up 5 ER in 24 IP while striking out 12. Young is 31 years old so he its up to him if he thinks its worth coming back or not. We've seen people retire at younger ages.

    Re: Young could be done

Chris Young has opted to undergo surgery to repair a re-tear of the anterior capsule in his right shoulder.
He'll go under the knife on May 16 and will miss the remainder of the season with the start of next year likely in question, as well. Young has posted a 1.43 ERA in eight starts over the last two seasons for the Padres and Mets, but the guy simply can't stay healthy.
If he's getting the surgery I guess retirement is out of the question.
