Twins Valencia sent down, Liriano to the pen

Twins optioned INF Danny Valencia to Triple-A Rochester.
Valencia opened the season as the Twins' starting third baseman but batted just .190 with 23 strikeouts and two walks in 103 plate appearances. The 27-year-old should be called back up once he gets his bat going against a lesser level of competition.

Francisco Liriano has been demoted to the bullpen.
It's an unfortunate but necessary move. Liriano registered a hideous 9.45 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and 21/19 K/BB ratio across his first 26 2/3 innings (six starts) this season. He'll presumably work as the long man in the Minnesota 'pen
Good to see the Twins shaking things up as they have looked really bad this season. Hopefully these moves send a message to the rest of the team.

    2.10 WHIP?

Holy shit. Why isn't he on the Yankees or Red Sox?

The Twins need to shake things up a bit. Many of the players look like they are going through the motions. Hopefully, these demotions will help them wake up. They have brought a couple of kids -- Erik Komatsu and Darin Mastroianni -- up to play outfield and a couple of pitchers -- Scott Diamond and PJ Walters -- to help in the rotation. Not really sure what to think of PJ Walters, but Diamond looked pretty good in his first start.

PJ Walters looked pretty good in his start and the outfielders also have looked good.
