Sure. But people who make those decisions aren't going to take a first baseman who used to play outfield not very well when they can pick from actual outfielders playing the position regularly, and fans are sure as hell not going to write him in for an outfield spot in the voting.

Damn. I can't recall a worse meltdown in their history since that infamous game where they blew an 8-run lead against Bartolo Colon and the Indians and then Mo Vaughn stayed in the dugout while both benches cleared after Troy Percival plunked David Justice with a pitch and Justice charged the mound, and Terry Collins re-signed two days later. People forget what a shitshow that franchise was before 2002.

So that catch Austin Jackson made was actually really amazing. Kurkijan said that it was a harder catch than the Willie Mays catch in terms of difficulty.
