Re: Early 2009 projections?
Nick,
Yes, I am the one suggesting the Marlins have the best rotation going. I have them even over my Giants. Andrew Miller is the only guy weighing them down but I expect a better year from here. Everyone else is damn good!! Health is an issue with every rotation but as of right now the Marlins have the best five going talent wise. Can't say the Cubs are better after citing injuries as a case against the Marlins. Last I checked, the Cubs have Rich Harden.
Slyder,
Yes, I am serious in my picks and serious on the Reds improving to third. Part of that is because the rest of the division isn't as good as last year. Who cares if the Reds scored only three runs in ST? Doesn't mean that will carry over from last year. Reds offense and defense is greatly improve over last year.

You were part of the reason I changed my mind. That being said, I still realize it's a risky pick.

Thought I would see how my predictions were holding up. Midway thoughts in BOLD

Hit by injuries early still havent gotten things going in the right direction. 2.5 games out halfway in very easily could still make a run. Starting Pitching is looking like a strong suit even with on again, off again DL Rich Harden. Team ERA 3.91
Cards- They still have the mad scientist Dave Duncan which means their pitching will miraculous be good while the rest of baseball looks on and goes How the **** is he doing it YET AGAIN. Oh ya that guy, whats his name... PuHols i think ya I heard he's pretty good. Can someone please smack Duhhsty in the head hard and get him to realize you make ANYONE BUT ALBERT PUJOLS beat you. I dont care the situation you are asking for losses if you give Pujols opportunities in key parts of the game. Anyways Duncan continues to show why he is the best pitching coach in the game and Carpenter has been as good as he always as. Can Duncan keep everything duct tape together? If so the cards will be really hard to beat.
Brewers- Yovanni will be the ace, I think Villeaneuva will be better this year holding the closer role until Hoffman's ready, which Bush shows up might be the key to "how good" the pitching staff is. Getting by on offense, Hoffman since coming back has been just disgusting. The Brewers moto second half "Just go 5 starters", their pen has been very good.
Reds- The Reds are done if Harang, Arroyo, Cueto, and Volquez can't stay healthy. Odds are 1 of them will get hurt (like every team faces). If they are 2nd place the division is even worse than I think.Survived some major "injuries" offense is still inept offensively and in the manager's office but we shall see what the FO has up its sleeve and Duhhsty hasnt killed Cueto... yet.
Astros- Trade the Reds killer Oswalt (I Pray to the AL) midseason, not quite as inept as Pittsburgh but they make things interesting. No Oswalt trade yet , figuring out someway to stay in the race.. maybe a testament to the sorriness of the entire division but still they are in the hunt.
Pittsburgh- They are the Pirates, nothing more needs to be said.Biggest kick in the balls is that the division is SO BAD that the freaking Pirates can trade off their best assets for prospects and STILL only be 6 games out!!! Shouldn't last but Pittsburgh's recent run on championships wouldnt surprise me to see Cinderella dancing awhile. 4.24 ERA even with the likes of Ian Snell at AAA now. Zach Duke is back.
NL East:
Philly Struggling of late, pitching is struggling posting a 4.77 year after winning the big one. Brad Lidge reverts back to being the gas can rather than the ice man.
Mets (WC)The fact they are anywhere near striking distance is remarkable considering the all star team of DL would include half the Mets stars at various points in the season.
Braves 3 starters with eras under 4 and none of them are Lowe... You could have made a LOT Of money off that prediction.
Florida The Marlins are to FO as Dave Duncan is to pitching coaches. They always seem to get the job and leave you wandering How the **** are they doing it AGAIN!?!?!
Washington (The one team that might be even more inept than Pittsburgh).Yep officially more inept than Pittsburgh, should be on the upswing since they fired Bowden. Still thats like asking which would you rather do swim upstream against tons of garbage or get 10000000000 paper cuts.
NL West:
LA Best team in baseball End of Story... even without Manny.
Arizona I was so wrong on this one. Yes I know they lost Dunn, but to be dead last 17 games under 500 SEESH!
San Francisco Lincecum and Cain then pray for rain!
Colorado Josh Fogg must only be able to pitch in thin air? Huston Street was an absolute steal for Colorado.Jason Marquis ERA sub 4?? WTF???
San Diego I expect the Padres to be active salers. Peavy, Bell, Eckstien, Coreia among others could be on the block.
AL East:
Boston
Tampa Right there after a slow start.
Yankees (all that money wasted as the depth blows)
Baltimore
Toronto Got this one wrong to. Doc Holiday is a miracle worker .
For DK, H_i_G, and Dave... It ends in a tie .
AL Central:
Cleveland (my darkhorse team) RoFLMaO. So much for that.
Minnesota (theyre always tough)
Chicago
Detroit (tough 4 team race maybe within like 9 games) At least thought they were in the hunt 3 teams within 3 games.
KC
AL West:
Anaheim (LA=big enough ego) division should be down a hair.Tied with Texas.
Texas (repeat of last year not enough pitching)Enough Pitching? Can Josh Hamilton stay healthy?
Oakland
Seattle

1. Detroit
2. Minnesota
3. Chicago
4. Cleveland
5. Kansas City
Detroit was built for last year, but they come through this year.
AL West
1. Los Angeles
2. Texas
3. Seattle
4. Oakland
Shouldn't even be close.
NL East
1. Philadelphia
2. New York
3. Atlanta
4. Florida
5. Washington
Washington is a ****ing joke of a franchise. They will finish with the worst season in the history of Major League Baseball. Bunch of losers. All of them.
NL Central
1. Chicago
2. Milwaukee
3. St. Louis
4. Houston
5. Cincinnati
6. Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh's going to suck.
NL West
1. Los Angeles
2. Arizona
3. San Francisco
4. San Diego
5. Colorado
If Manny Ramirez returns to Los Angeles, they win. If he doesn't, then swap them with Arizona. Other than that, the bottom three teams are going to suck.

I nailed almost all of these picks, except for Colorado, most notably.
