Royals signed OF Alex Gordon to a four-year, $37.5 million contract extension with a $12.5 million player option for 2016.
Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star passed along the terms of the deal, which will cover his final two years of arbitration and his first two years of free agency. He'll make $6 million in 2012 (negating his previous one-year deal), $9 million in 2013, $10 million in 2014 and $12.5 million in 2015. Gordon is coming off a breakthrough season in which he batted .303/.376/.502 with 23 homers, 87 RBI and an .879 OPS. The 28-year-old also won a Gold Glove award for his defense in left field.
Looks like Gordon is getting paid after his one good season. Let's hope he continues to play well and earn this deal.
