Astros More From The Trash Pile

Astros signed C Toby Hall, C Brian Esposito, RHP Danny Graves, RHP Chad Paronto and RHP Jose Capellan to minor league contracts.
Hall is essentially the same player as Paul Lo Duca, so maybe the Astros will stop talking to him now. The 33-year-old Hall hit .260/.304/.331 in 127 at-bats for the White Sox last season. He was an adequate backup before his shoulder problems two years ago, but he didn't return to previous form last season. Everyone else here figures to start off on the Triple-A roster.
Some familiar names like Graves and Hall. I still don't see why the Astros didn't sign Pudge.

I don't see Pudge signing before the beginning of spring training. Some team will look at their catchers and say "Maybe he is worth a look". I would see him getting a fraction of what his agent thought he would get after last year.

From the list, I could see Graves helping at the major league level the most. Maybe Capellan and Hall, but not as likely.

    Graves over Hall?

    You gotta be kidding me.

I'm not sure the EXACT numbers, but I remember reading Graves had something like a 6 era last year...in triple A.

Toby Hall has been in the majors the past couple years, and let's be honest here, Towles might not be ready just yet, so the back-up catcher position is up for grabs.
