This is a discussion on Random Reds Rumblings within the Cincinnati Reds forum; What is this about Cordero? I went to bed before this was over, like 12th inning, but he was warming ...

No, I know he was. What I meant to Slyder was if he knew something about him NOT wanting to come into the game or something. Cordero started warming up in the 9th if I recall correctly.

Re: Random Reds Rumblings
Generally speaking, you won't see your closer in the game on the road unless your team takes the lead in the top of any inning from the 9th on.
Pretty much every team does it. Closer in the bottom of the 9th in a tie game at home, no closer until you take the lead on the road.
And, inevitably, a fan of the road team will always question it on a message board if the team loses.

Yeah and that's why I was wondering what the problem was that Slyder was alluding to. They kept having get up to loosen but when the lead was never taken, they went with whoever he was warming up next to (Burton, Owings, etc.)

I had a problem because you saw Owings go out there and give literally everything and then some. Cordero warmed up a few times after that whenever it looked like the Reds had something possibly cooking but Duhhhsty never put him in and continued to run Owings out there.
Owings was masterful for 4 innings, figured out some smoke and mirrors for a fifth inning. Being completely gassed went back out there cause Heaven forbid Cordero actually have to pitch in a non save situation. When Micah went back out there for the 16th I knew then the Reds were punting it. A "fresh" Cordero at least gives you a punchers chance to get to 17th. I cant stand listening to Micah going out there and putting forth the type of performance he did to just be left out to dry while Cordero who is suppose to be our best reliever is left twittling his thumbs cause its not a "save situation".

Isn't Micah a starter?
He shouldn't be gassed after 5 innings.

Do the Reds EVER play well on the west coast? Yeesh.
Anyway, hopefully some home cookin' will ignite them again. I hope to be here around game time if anyone wants to discuss the action on a game thread or whatever.
Going to a few games this weekend in person for the first time this year!

That world-beaters pitching staff Krivsky reportedly left behind is not exactly looking impressive. And I won't even get into the offensive "talent" he kept around for Jocketty. Still tons of work for him to do.

Bruce still has a LONG way to go to be a great offensive player. What a wretched AB there in the 6th.

MacDonald makes absolutely no sense when we actually have talent sitting in AAA that could replace his spot. Whatever fondness Dusty has for him as a person needs to be put into perspective by his ability.

I was at a loss for words when I saw him in the lineup. Do they really think he is the best option to put out there at this point?

Re: Random Reds Rumblings
Its a bit scary to think how good our record might be if we had gotten that elusive big bat in the offseason. Losses, like the one tonight, are getting tough to stomach.
