I would much prefer to trade Arroyo to Harang, and with the pitching market down this year he could fetch a good return. Bailey still has to prove himself though. His new splitter is supposed to be a great pitch for him, but we will have to see if it has the same effect at the MLB level.

Earlier in the season I would have said the Mets should take a look....but now Livan Hernandez and Fernando Nieve have (temporarily) solidified the rotation, and we need a hitter more than a starter.

Arroyo should definitely fetch a good price on the market, especially considering the shitty state of available starting pitching.

Yep, I've head all about the splitter. God I hope its true (that it is as good as reported.)

And I agree on Harang vs Arroyo. Frankly, I hope we keep Harang for quite some time as he is about as solid as they come when healthy and that kind of reliability would be key in playoff situations. Arroyo has value, but at his price and with our depth (when healthy), he is a luxury we could parlay into a bat.

Especially with guys like Stewart and Wood showing up, some of this talent has to be able to stick at the big league level other than Cueto.

Trading Arroyo is a good decision but I wouldn't expect a good return for him. I would say that it would have taken more than Arroyo to land DeRosa.

The scary thing is the recent news of his possible postseason surgery. His value may decrease due to that.

We have to keep Harang IMO. And I agree with you guys; it would be great if Bailey's split is as good as advertised.

OMG ITS A REDSRBETTER SIGHTING...

but yea I agree, it seems like the national media talks about Arroyo as if he's a great player... he's average, and he's getting older

He does eat innings and has been a solid attribute to our rotation, but I see the strength of our present rotation and believe that the asking price for a solid bat would be for one of our younger and more talented commodities. If the talks start there, then Arroyo would be someone merely settled for.
