Did anyone honestly think they were going to pay the Big Hurt 8 figures next year? The Sox have bought out Frank's contract before, so it's not a shocker that they did it again. Expect him to return with a low base, incentive laden deal in 2006 if he doesn't retire.

Doubt he'll retire, he'll give it a go 1 more year. I didn't expect them to pay the 10 million, but it's just weird seeing Thomas not on the White Sox.
