This is a discussion on Congrats to the Champs within the Chicago White Sox forum; I personally wrote this team off in September because I thought they would go the typical "choke" route, but they ...

Wow great job Chicago, never doubted for a second whether you would or wouldnt be in the playoffs. Wow a sweep!?!?!?! never thought that would be the outcome, I thought for sure it would be low scoring with Houston at least getting 2 games.

MY White Sox ... the team I have followed since my childhood ... the team that was never really great, but never really bad either ... a perennial 2nd or 3rd place team ... a history that includes a team the allegedly fixed the 1919 World Series (losing on the field to the Reds, winning off the field in court, then losing off the field to the Commisioner of baseball) ...
Well now, you can call them CHAMPIONS!
They embodied the true "team play" mantra most teams simply talk about, as they had a different hero every night ... they started the season in first place in the American League Central Division, and maintained their hold on first place for the entire season ... they ended with the best regular season record in the American League ... they stumbled a bit, then finished the season winning 16 of their last 17 games l ... then they swept Boston in 3, beat Califonia in 5, and swept the Astros in 4 ... an 11-1 record in the post season ... they had part time players coming off the bench to win games for them ... they played solid fundamental baseball ... they had a pitching staff that seemed to get better when the heat was on them ... a complete team effort leading to the ultimate wonderful end result ...
This is just freaking awesome ... I'm going to be floating all the way through the weekend ....

Conrats on a great season, it's good to see that you don't have to spend 200 million dollars to buy a WS and the White Sox proved it. Also glad to see Harold Baines finally be able to bask in the glow of a world champion. And finally, congrats to Ozzie, he's a heck of a baseball manager.

Like when the O's were trying to buy a WS in the mid-late 90s? I know you are referring to the Yanks but we didn't buy a WS during our latest dynasty.

Not much of a ChiSox fan but congrats to them. I'm glad to see Frank Thomas get a ring though I'm disappointed he didn't get to play.
