    White Sox Frank Thomas Retires: HoF?

    'Big Hurt' Frank Thomas announces retirement after 19-year career - ESPN Chicago

    He didn't play last year, but officially retired. Thoughts? Should he be in the HoF? I think so. The guy was flat out dominant and there never has been a question about PEDs with the Big Hurt.

    If anyone says he shouldn't be in the Hall, they should be immediately offed. If he doesn't get in the system is officially broken. He's a no-brainer.

    Yeah, those five all-star selections and all those years playing great defense at DH are rather impressive..

    Re: Frank Thomas Retires: HoF?

    I think he may be the first DH as a shoe in. He was a 1B for a long time as well. Not that he was a great defender, but I won't argue that he never played defense. He switched to DH just like many players you see now.

    The dude was flat out one of the best hitters in the era. He is a bonafide HOFer.

    Re: Frank Thomas Retires: HoF?

    FYI;

    per Wikipedia:

    Thomas is the only player in major league history to have seven consecutive seasons of a .300 average and at least 100 walks, 100 runs, 100 runs batted in, and 20 home runs (from 1991 to 1997).

    I think he should get in lol.. I just choose not to overlook that he has major flaws in his resume as well. And both of the facts I mentioned earlier are not very attractive.

    PMs being sent to you guys, lets try and keep it cool. I don't want to get into a debate on whose fault it is or anything like that either. Let's just talk baseball and refrain from insult before it gets serious.

    Thanks guys.

    5 all star selections isn't exactly a flaw...especially when you pair it with 2 MVP's. And like redsr said, he played 1B for a while. He wasn't particularly good, but at least he played it for a long time.

    I would say it is something of a flaw. Only five all-star selections is way below what you would think such an amazing, Hall of Fame player would have.. especially one that plays no defense and only impacted the game with his bat.
