    Wait til next year...

Since I am really the only active Cubs fan, I don't have someone on here that shares the frustration. So I figured I would make my own thread where I can come to bitch or praise.

Opening day was today for the Cubs at Wrigley where they played the Pirates. It was cold and rainy but it looked like the Cubs were off to a positive note scoring two runs early and riding Dempster's dominance through the 4th inning.

All of the sudden Dempster loses his control and was walking batters, eventually giving up a grand slam to Neil Walker. I fucking hate this guy already. Respect him, yes, but I hate his guts. He hasn't been around long and he's already a Cub killer. Demp got out of the inning and through the 6th no problem.

6IP, 4 ER in around 100 pitches. Sounds like a decent line for opening day in rainy Chicago, doesn't it? I thought so, but for some reason Quade had him go out for one more inning. A couple of batters later, Andrew McCutchen hits a two run homer. A two run deficit turned into four, and the Cubs couldn't come up with the big hit in numerous opportunities.

I just don't understand that decision. I've already got some man-love for Mike Quade for the decisions he's made so far. Cashner in the rotation, Silva off the team(and absolutely torched him for his comments), and rewarded Darwin Barney the starting 2B job(2 for 3 today). Yet, he makes the boneheaded decision to let Demp go out for one more inning.

    That's it for today.

All managers make the mistakes of leaving pitchers out for too long. But hey, we love bitchy threads. Just look at the Dodgers section.
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
    Ted
: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
    Barney: Circle gets the square!

Don't like it, don't read it.

And at least I'll keep it in one thread, instead of all over the place..

Chicago Cubs Can't Believe They're Doing This Again | The Onion Sports Network

"Another spring, summer, and fall out the fucking window," Ramirez said as several of his teammates, coaches, and team chairman Tom Ricketts nodded their heads in agreement. "I don't even know why we're here. Seriously, Ryan [Dempster], why are you here right now? Kosuke [Fukudome], what do you expect to get out of all this? Kerry [Wood], that you came back to this team after playing for the New York Yankees makes me fucking sick to my stomach for you and your family."

"Year after year we all know this is going to end badly, but here we are," Ramirez added. "It's the very definition of insanity."

They hit the nail on the head. Yeah, we tend to panic quickly. But I wasn't panicking yet. I was just upset over a dumb decision.

Cubs win today, and Starlin Castro is a fucking beast. I have a feeling he's going to blow MLB away by the end of the year.

Ok just got home from work to watch the Cubs blow it in the 9th. From what I've read Marmol pitched like shit today, but thats not what has me very pissed off.

Down 5-4, one out with runners at 1st and 3rd. Marlon Byrd (our number three hitter) swings at the first pitch and grounds into a double play.

    WTF.

Marmol wasn't that bad. Castro made an ill-advised throw allowing a run to score. Marmol wasn't hit hard either. Garza struck a lot of guys out too.

For the record, I wasn't calling you out, just happened to have read that article minutes before seeing your thread.

    I dig Castro though too.

Castro looks like an All-Star player.

The Cubs are doing things the right way with developing players. It's just going to take a while. Though their biggest issue is Wrigley Field. White Sox or Bears need public funding? No problem. The Cubs which do more for the city than any other team need SOME public funding? Well screw that noise. Not to mention dealing with alderman's every time they want to do anything at the park to increase revenue. It's hard to win there when they're handcuffed.

Good win today. But I am a little worried about Cashner. He was nasty through 5 innings and got pulled after a funny looking throw. Cubs said it's shoulder tightness which I am not buying quite yet. Gunna wait til they confirm that before I feel better.

Yeah I hope it isn't anything serious. I saw the throw and seriously doubt it is just shoulder tightness.

Cashner has a strained right rotator cuff and is headed to the 15DL with Randy Wells who has a strained right forearm.

    Great.

The Cubs pretty much decided they didn't care about tonights game before it even started.

Russell had a 50 pitch count limit, making his first career start. He didn't make it out of the 2nd inning.

Seriously, instead of taking away from Russel's confidence, why didn't they just call up a scrub from the minors to make a start, and take one up the ass for the organization.
