Red Sox Cody Ross to Boston

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Red Sox have signed outfielder Cody Ross.
Terms aren't yet available, but Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald hears that it will be a one-year deal. Ross, 31, batted just .240/.325/.405 with 14 home runs and a .730 OPS over 121 games last season for the Giants, but owns a healthy .912 career OPS against southpaws. He's expected to serve in a platoon with the lefty-hitting Ryan Sweeney in right field, but also could be used in left field if Carl Crawford has any setbacks from wrist surgery. It's not known if this deal will have any impact on their ability to add a starting pitcher.
$3 million is not bad for Ross who can play all three positions and fill in in case anyone goes down. He still plays good defense but don't expect many walks. Just hope they didn't move Scutaro to make room for Ross

Not that Scutaro is by any means amazing but to think that the Evil Nation is going to trot out a platoon of Nick Punto and Mike Aviles at short and a wagon of players in RF, is.... interesting. But, then again, all you really need from those positions is quality defense because they still have a good lineup for the most part.

Oswalt would be interesting in Boston. I suppose Edwin Jackson costs too much. Weird saying a player costs too much for Boston.
