Braves re-signed OF Eric Hinske to a one-year, $1.35 million contract with a $1.5 million club option for 2012.
Hinske also considered a comparable offer from the Brewers, but decided to stay with the comfort level that he has found in Atlanta. The 33-year-old hit .256/.338/.456 with 11 home runs and 51 RBI over 281 at-bats in 2010. He can play a range of positions in the infield and outfield.
Not a bad deal at all considering Omar Vizquel is making more than him with the White Sox. Hinske is a great guy to have on the bench. He was a very valuable asset to the Braves postseason run last year.
