    D'Backs Owings Returns

Diamondbacks signed RHP Micah Owings to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to spring training. Of course, Owings was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in 2005 and posted a 4.97 ERA over 45 starts and six relief appearances with the club before he was dealt to the Reds in the Adam Dunn deal. Owings, now 28, had a 5.40 ERA and 35/25 K/BB ratio over 33 1/3 innings last season. The good news is that the Diamondbacks plan to give him a look at first base, in addition to the mound. About time.
It is about time and hopefully he will focus more on his hitting and fielding instead of his pitching if he wants to stick around as a player. I still think he should pitch because it gives him more value but focusing more on other aspects of the game might help his pitching. His focusing more on pitching sure hasn't been working. Being able to pinch hit and do mop up duty can could come in handy.
