This pretty much ends our air conditioning at Safeco with Branyan. Kotchman fits what Jack Z/Wak are trying to do.

Bryce Harper
Feb 09, 2010 - 12:02 AM - by redsrbetter
I guess we can all agree that Harper will be the number 1 overall pick in this year's draft. Since the Nats get this pick once again; it may be time to affiliate him with his new club.

For now, he is hitting at a 323/.405/.677 clip with 5 BBs and 4 Ks in his first week in college baseball. This league is an all wood bat league as well, so his development for the big leagues is on a steady pace.

Here is a ... [Read More]

ODawg to the Twinkies!
Feb 04, 2010 - 7:40 PM - by redsrbetter
Just got a tweet linking this...

Link

If you guys get him, I bet it is at a good price. The Twins usually make good moves from an economic standpoint. Yet, I remember just yesterday that the Nats were turned down for their lack of money offered.

Anyhow, with Mauer's extension looming, I wonder how this plays out.

Target Field
Feb 04, 2010 - 5:00 PM - by redsrbetter
Twins new baseball field will not only host baseball games, they will also make money on other activities. Smart!

Target Field

I am ecxited to see this stadium. I really didn't like the Metrodome very much. The outfield fence, the white ceiling, the turf. Time for the Twins to have something better. And good for the city to use the building for other community needs. I think many... [Read More]

New Faces; New Races
Jan 20, 2010 - 8:38 PM - by redsrbetter
I remember watching an episode of Everybody Loves Raymond a few years ago. Raymond’s brother Robert was sitting at the table eating with the family when he asks them about whether they were excited about what was coming up in the next few days. They all started nodding and were in agreement that when pitchers and catchers report in February, the baseball season officially begins.

Spring training is right around the corner and this year’s pitchers and catchers will report on February 18th. It’s a time for many of the fans to pack up their things and kiss their boss goodbye as they take to the road with admirations of being the first to see whether Manny Ramirez cut his hair or if CC Sabathia has lost any weight. And for those of us who do not have the time or pleasure to breath the same Florida or Arizona air that these players are breathing; we find ourselves joining together on the internet all searching for player profiles and updates on who has arrived and what... 2009 Was So Last Year
Jan 01, 2010 - 3:44 AM - by missionhockey21
Whether you joined us in 2009 or you have been with us for years, I wanted to take this time tonight to give you all a very special thanks for making Baseball Slant what it is today. 2009 was a big year for us in many ways, most notably we finally broke out on our own so that we were completely in charge of our future; we own and manage everything now. And one of those decisions that we made in regards to our future was our change from Strike 3 Forums to Baseball Slant. While this change hasn’t been fully realized yet, we plan to become the destination for you and other fans to come and share your slant on the game and ultimately deliver a fun and unique discussion unlike any other baseball community.

This April will mark our 5th Birthday, and some of us have known one another even longer than that. Players who were once the young guys of the leagues are now looked at as veterans. Hell, Andruw Jones hit 51 homeruns in our first year online (just to give you an idea of how... [Read More]
